I started in the career of becoming a nurse and found that it is very rewarding. But at times very disappointing. There are highs and lows. When it comes to the patients you need lots of patience. I work in a skilled nurses facility (snf). There is long and short term patients.
I have just gotten my licenses and been practicing for just over 3 months. I never thought it would be so hard and overwhelming. I wonder at times what was I thinking and other times it is the most rewarding time in my life. Just with a simple smile of someone recognizes me and giving all their trust in your hands. It is crazy at times. I hope that I never end up thinking this is just money and pop pills and move on without know the patient my name.
I have found that most nurses only know the room number and not the name of person inside the room. It is very sad when you address this resident at a person and they who and you name the room number and they so "oh yea". But is that because I have just become this new adventure.
Well if there is anyone out there can help me answer this question please feel free to pass your thoughts on.
